BankBytes was born from a simple observation: my mom, a seasoned CPA with her own practice, was spending countless evenings copying bank statement transactions by hand into spreadsheets for her small business clients.

I watched her work late into the night, helping construction companies, plumbers, and other trades businesses get their books in order. These weren't tech-savvy companies—they were hardworking business owners who needed their accounting done right but couldn't afford enterprise-level solutions. Most would just show up with printed statements or email PDF copies, expecting what tools like DocuClipper promised but couldn't reliably deliver.

The irony wasn't lost on me: here was someone with decades of financial expertise, spending hours on manual data entry that could clearly be automated. But every solution we tried was either too expensive, too complex, or simply didn't understand the reality of small practice accounting—they'd miss transactions, mess up amounts, or fail on certain bank formats.

So I built something just for her practice. What started as a weekend project to give my mom her evenings back quickly revealed a universal problem: small accounting practices everywhere were drowning in manual work, preventing them from focusing on what they do best—serving their clients and getting home to their families.

Today, BankBytes has processed over 50,000 bank statements, saving businesses more than 15,000 hours of manual work. We're trusted by accounting firms and small businesses across the country, but our mission remains unchanged: eliminating the tedious work that keeps financial professionals at their desks long after they should be home.

Because everyone deserves more time with the people they love. Having grown up watching my mom work late nights during busy season, I understand how valuable every hour is in this profession. If we can save someone even 30 minutes a week on data entry, that's 30 minutes they can spend on what really matters.
